Do you want to vacation at Alpe d'Huez? This ski resort, at an altitude of 1860 meters, is located in the Alps, in the Isère, 59 km from Grenoble, 163 km from Lyon, and 620 km from Paris. It is part of the Grandes Rousses mountain range, above Oisans. It is located on the old mountain pastures of the Huez village.
Also called "The Island of the Sun," Alpe d'Huez, on the heights of Bourg-d'Oisans, enjoys 300 days of sun every year. The road up to Alpe-d'Huez is known for its 21 hairpin turns, so often climbed by the Tour de France cyclists! The ski area is enormous. It stretches over 1500 m in altitude, from glacier slopes to pine forests. You will find the mythical Sarenne slope here, offering 16 km of uninterrupted slopes.
The Alpe-d'Huez ski area offers 237 km of downhill skiing slopes of all levels of difficulty, and two areas reserved for beginners.
The resort also offers four mythical downhill runs with around 2000 meters of altitude drop, which you can do in one run! Passages and unspoiled sites allow you to practice back-country skiing.
There are 50 km of cross country ski trails, and five loops, as well as 30 km of marked trails where you can snowshoe or do Nordic walking.
The resort offers two snowparks, a boardercross, a nighttime ski and sled run, and a permanent sledding area.
You can also try out snowmobiling, snow-karting, ski-joëring, dog sledding, or snow tractors. You can also discover the ice cavern, dug out at an altitude of 2700 meters by two mountain guides, or the snow factory.
Besides snow activities, your vacation in Alpes-d'Huez will also be your chance to enjoy one of the many restaurants in the resort, which also houses a movie theater, bars, clubs, and many shops.
