The Mont St Michel, also known as the 'Wonder of the West ", is originally a big center of pilgrimage. Today, it is a special place in harmony between nature and man.Dominating the bay of Mont St Michel, the abbey boasts several marvels of medieval architecture. All the rooms elated to monastic life are stacked above one another around the top of the rock.
Founded, according to legend, after the appearance of the archangel Saint Michael, the monastery grew from the 10th to the 15th century on several floors around the abbey, it stands between sky and sea, crowned with the statue of the archangel. The abbey is on the Unesco Heritage list.
Twice a day the tides of Mont-Saint-Michel bay are invading the Mont St Michel making it an island. The amplitude of these tides is the largest in Europe and is a beautiful show.
The culinary side, you can try many local specialties such as: the traditional omelets, roast lamb, fish from the bay and seafood.
