Strolling through Flaine

Flaine is the kind of modern resort that hasn’t forgotten its roots.

Born in the 1960s in the heart of a breathtaking natural cirque, it blends Bauhaus spirit, raw nature, and a warm, friendly atmosphere. The result? A modern resort that doesn’t try too hard yet still makes a lasting impression. Here, you can take off your skis right in the center, stroll around ski-in/ski-out, and forget about your car. Everything is done on foot, at your own pace, breathing in the fresh mountain air.

At 1,600 meters altitude, with peaks rising to 2,500 meters, Flaine enjoys generous snowfall all winter long. Its minimalist architecture, designed by Marcel Breuer, blends seamlessly into the snowy landscape. Wide terraces, panoramic views, and artistic touches (with works by Pablo Picasso, Victor Vasarely, and other surprises along the way) give the resort a unique feel. An open-air museum? In a way, yes just with down jackets and gloves!

On the slopes, Flaine is part of the Grand Massif, one of the most beautiful playgrounds in the Alps and the fourth largest ski area in the French Alps, with 265 km of runs across five interconnected resorts:

  • Flaine,
  • Les Carroz,
  • Morillon,
  • Samoëns,
  • and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval

Glide down slopes with views of Mont Blanc and discover natural terrain made for skiing. Among the highlights, the 14 km-long Cascade run is a must for lovers of scenic descents. Whatever your level, there’s something for everyone in Flaine.

And when you’ve had your fill of skiing, it’s time to slow down:

  • a steaming hot chocolate,
  • a sunny terrace,
  • a relaxing spa session,
  • or a peaceful walk among sculptures and pine trees.

In short: a unique, fluid, panoramic, and inspiring resort.

Flaine is where design meets the mountains, where snow is generous, and where a gentle atmosphere lets you truly unwindwithout overdoing it. Here, you simply experience the mountains.
